Moshi Day Trips
The small and vibrant town of Moshi sees a lot of visitors due to its close proximity to Mount Kilimanjaro. Many travellers use it as their base-camp for the climb and/or safaris to many of the wildlife sanctuaries that Tanzania is well known for.
At an altitude of 800 metres above sea level, the town is surrounded by rice and banana fields and endless green mountain slopes and coffee plantations. Head into the busy town centre itself and you’ll be greeted by local after local with a friendly “jambo” (hello) as they go about their day-to-day business. Look up on a clear day, and you’ll also see the mountain dominating the town’s skyline.
Although approximately 55,000 visitors come here annually to climb the famous Mt. Kilimanjaro, this town has remained largely unaffected and has managed to keep its charm. While many come here to climb the mountain, Moshi is also the gateway to so many other fascinating places that will give you a true taste of Tanzania.
